StepMania requires Mac OS X 10.2.7 or higher to run and is a 10.9 megabyte download courtesy of sourceforge.net. The game features a standard no muss, no fuss graphical installer.

It was originally developed as a simulator of Konami's popular arcade game series Dance Dance Revolution, and has since evolved into an extensible rhythm game engine capable of supporting a wide variety of rhythm-based game types.Released under the MIT License, StepMania is free software.
  2. StepMania is a free dance and rhythm game for Windows, Mac, and Linux. It features 3D graphics, keyboard and 'dance pad' support, and an editor for creating your own steps. Its based on the popular dance-step games available in arcade halls. StepMania allows users to create their own custom dance patterns. You may want to check out more Mac applications, such as Performous, which might be similar to StepMania.
  3. Mac OS X users need to have Mac OS X 10.6.8 or higher to run StepMania. Linux users should receive all they need from the package manager of their choice. StepMania can be compiled using CMake. Upgrading from macOS Catalina 10.15 or Mojave 10.14?

Go to Software Update in System Preferences to find macOS Big Sur. Click Upgrade Now and follow the onscreen instructions.

Upgrading from an older version of macOS?

If you’re running any release from macOS 10.13 to 10.9, you can upgrade to macOS Big Sur from the App Store. If you’re running Mountain Lion 10.8, you will need to upgrade to El Capitan 10.11 first.

If you don’t have broadband access, you can upgrade your Mac at any Apple Store.
