Vault 2

The Codex Vault 2 is the next generation, on-set or near-set media management environment. Fast transfers, automated production management, full reporting, rugged design and a compact size make the Vault the hub of any on-set or near-set file based workflow. The Vault supports digital cinema cameras made by ARRI, Sony, Canon, RED and other industry leaders. It is a standalone solution requiring no external drives or processing. It is designed to eliminate much of the complexity involved in designing workflows while taking full advantage of the efficiencies of file-based production and the ability to share rich metadata. It’s an entire workflow in a small package.

Vault 2 is modular, meaning that it can be configured to meet the needs of a particular production. The modules are Process, Storage, Archive, Review and the SR Memory Module. Vault 2 comes in four basic configurations – ON SET, REVIEW, ARCHIVE and PRODUCTION.

The Vault is designed for ease of use on-set or near-set. An administrator (post supervisor, DIT, digital asset manager) can design an entire workflow at the beginning of a production – designating what tasks will be performed in which order and controlling who has access to various operations. Because the workflow has been set up in advance, the operator on-set doesn’t need any specialized knowledge. The administrator can set up the Vault so that the operator simply loads the media from the camera and is then guided through the tasks required. Ms excel portable. The operator can be blocked from, for example, deleting any camera original data until tape archives have been made and verified.

The Codex Onboard S Plus Recorder can record ARRIRAW, Canon Cinema RAW, uncompressed HD or wavelet encoded HD material - plus embedded audio and metadata - onto a removable, solid-state Capture Drive (240 GB or 480GB). It is weather-resistant and weighs only 2.4 lbs/1.1 kgs, making it ideal for smaller cameras like the the Canon EOS C500 and 300 and the Sony PMW-F3, as well as the entire Alexa family. Frame rates up to 60 frames per second (16:9) or 48 frames per second (4:3) are supported with the Alexa, and frame rates of up to 120 frames per second are supported with the Canon C500 at 4K.

The Capture Drives are fully compatible with the Codex Transfer Station for Mac OS X and the Codex Vault S, allowing for the QC of material, editing of metadata, creation of deliverables and archiving of original camera data.

The Capture Drives are fully compatible with the Codex Capture Drive Transfer Station M and the Codex Vault S, allowing for the QC of material, editing of metadata, creation of deliverables and archiving of original camera data.

Apple ProRes RAW applies ProRes compression technology to RAW image data from the camera sensor. This delivers the flexibility of RAW video with the incredible performance of ProRes in a format ideal for high-dynamic-range (HDR) content creation.
